Green Fair Sculpture Exhibition
The tree sculpture exhibition at the Green Fair was a success! Our Call for Art asked participants to create a tree sculpture using biodegradable materials, recyclable materials, or garbage that would have otherwise been sent to a landfill. By the end of the Green Fair, we had over 20 trees on display!
48 people voted for their favorite trees, and two lucky groups of artists won. Congratulations to the Graduate Library Staff for their "Learn Green at the Library Tree" and to Danielle Davis for her "Fishing Tree." You can see photos of the winning trees below. Each tree won a $150 prize!
The Green Fair took place on June 15th, 2007, and featured live music, activities, demonstrations, informational non-profit environmental exhibits, and more! Four blocks downtown on Main Street were closed for the event. The tree sculptures were arranged at the Arts at Michigan booth, and we also provided materials for people to create more trees during the fair.
Below are pictures of the event and tree submissions. Many thanks to all of our creative contributors and to the Circle K volunteers for their help with the event!
NOTE: We still have some trees left from the Green Fair! If you haven't yet picked yours up, email Michelle Bien at bien@umich.edu to schedule a time to pick it up, or let her know if you would prefer us to recycle your tree.
